Cuthona sp. #13
|Maximum size: 6 mm.
This Cuthona has a
translucent body densely streaked with opaque white lines. The cerata
are slender with opaque white lines shading to a translucent tip. The
rhinophores have white tips and an orange subapical band. There is a
pink patch behind the rhinophores and an orange line on the front of
the head that extends onto the bases of the cephalic tentacles.
All of the five known Cuthona
sp. #13 were found in Halimeda
kanaolana beds at depths
of 6-11 m (20-36 ft). It lays a white egg mass.
Maui: also known from Indonesia.
First recorded in Hawaii from Black Rock, Maui by CP on Oct. 17, 1995.
