Maximum size:  5 mm.

Identification:  The body of this aeolid is translucent bluish-white with patches and streaks of yellow-orange on the notum. The lower half of each ceras is blood red and the upper half has a slightly inflated opaque bluish-white band, a thin irregular subapical red ring, and a tip that shades from yellow to bluish-white. The rhinophores and cephalic tentacles are pale yellow.

Natural history:  The single known Cuthona sp. #9 was found in a moderately exposed location under rubble at 12 m (40 ft).

Distribution:  Maui: also known from Lord Howe Island and Papua New Guinea.

Taxonomic notes:  First recorded in Hawaii off Makena, Maui by PF on Mar. 27, 1994.
