Architectonica gualtierii (Bieler, 1993)
Maximum size:
33 mm shell diameter (Kay, 1979).
Identification:
This
is
a
large, top-shaped species with an enlarged marginal
cord. It is light brown with spiral rows of dark
brown blotches.
Natural history:
According
to
Kay
(1979), Architectonica
gualtierii is found in sand at depths of
30-50 m (98-164 ft).
Distribution:
Maui
and Oahu: widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific.
Taxonomic notes:
It's listed in Kay, 1979 as Architectonica maxima
(Philippi, 1849) and illustrated in Severns, 2000 as Architectonica perspectiva. It's also illustrated in Morris, 1974 as A. perspectiva.
