Bullina sp. #1

Maximum size: about 10 mm.
Identification:
This
species has a translucent shell with flattened spiral
cords that are tinted with red-brown. The spire is low and the
body is cream, flecked with opaque white.
Natural history:
Bullina
sp. #1 is known from two, paired animals found in a
sand patch among coral heads at about 8 m (25 ft). They were found at
night and burrowed into the sand rapidly while observed. (Rob Johnson, pers. com.)
Distribution: Big Island.
Taxonomic notes:
It was first recorded in Hawaii at Puako, Big Island by Rob Johnson on Oct. 7, 2022.
