Chelidonura(?) sp. #5
Maximum size: 2 mm.
Identification:
This is a tiny, solid black animal with only a hint of orange spotting
at its front and orange tips on its "tails".
Natural history:
Chelidonura(?) sp.
#5 is
known from only one animal found in a Halimeda kanaloana bed at
a depth of 12-14 m (40-47 ft).
Distribution:
Maui.
Taxonomic notes:
It was first
recorded in Hawaii from Hekili Point, Maui by CP; on March 30, 2017.
There is some chance that it might be a juvenile of Chelidonura(?) sp #6 or a live Chelidonura(?)
sp #3 (the shell was not extracted for comparison). Also, it could turn out to be in Mariaglaja when the specimen is examined (Manuel Malaquias, pers. com.).
