Colinatys sp. #1
Maximum size: 2.6 mm.
Identification:
This
species
has
a stout, transparent shell reticulated
with opaque white lines. The animal is translucent cream.
Natural history:
Colinatys sp. #1 is
a moderately rare species found in rocky habitats at
depths of 1-15 m (3-49 ft). Shells from sand samples extend the depth
range to at least 61 m (200 ft). It has been recorded from moderately
protected to
moderately exposed sites.
Distribution:
Maui and Midway: widely distributed in the western & central
Pacific.
Taxonomic notes: This species was first
recorded
in
Hawaii from Kapalua Bay, Maui by CP on May 27, 1997. It was formerly placed in the family Diaphanidae as Diaphana sp. #1.
