Elysia sp. #14

Maximum size: 5.8 mm.
Identification: This
is
a pale-green animal mottled with white and decorated with ocellate, dark-green
spots as well as scattered iridescent flecks. The rhinophores are green basally
but translucent-cream distally (with the distal portion being contractile). It's body
is covered with low, widely-spaced papillae and the parapodia form three broad chimneys, the central one higher.
Natural history:
Elysia
sp. #14 is known from one animal found at a moderately exposed
site at about 12 m (40 ft).
Distribution: Maui.
Taxonomic notes:
It was first recorded in Hawaii from Whaler's Village, Maui by CP on Nov. 27, 2008. Previously, it was lumped with Elysia sp. #5. However, it differs from that species in having lower parapodia, less prominent papillae and smaller rhinophores.
