Orbitestella cf. bermudezi Aguayo & Borro, 1946
Maximum size: 0.7 mm shell
diameter.
Identification:
The
shell
of
this
species has a broad, rounded, asymmetrical periphery that is crossed
by relatively fine, angled axial ribs.
Natural history:
Shells
of
Orbitestella cf. bermudezi are moderately common in
beach drift. Live animals are occasionally found in shallow rocky
habitats.
Distribution:
Maui, French Frigate Shoals and Midway: Orbitestella bermudezi is known
from Japan.
Taxonomic notes:
Shells
of
this
species are very similar to those of Orbitestella
bermudezi as
illustrated in Okutani,
2000.
