Pruvotfolia sp. #1
Maximum size: 8-13 mm.
Identification:
This
species is translucent-cream with strongly inflated cerata
arranged in well-defined arcs. The digestive gland stops well short of
the tips of the cerata and there are no cnidosacs. The rhinophores are
smooth (though they may appear slightly wrinkled when contracted). The
foot corners are sharply re-curved, but short. The tips of the rhinophores
and cerata are frosted with white.
Natural history: Pruvotfolia sp. #1 is known from a single animal found drifting in the water column, at night, at a depth of about 7 m. (23 ft).
Distribution:
Big Island.
Taxonomic notes:
This species is somewhat similar to "Pruvotfolia? sp. e699" on Scott Johnson's site. It was first recorded in Hawaii at Puako, Big Island by Rob Johnson on July 23, 2023.
