Pteraeolidia semperi (Bergh, 1870)
regenerating posterior end of
body
We have seen hundreds of P. semperi regenerating, attesting
to the effectiveness of their stored nematocysts. Fish that take a bite
experience the sting and leave the rest of the animal alone.

regenerating, bi-color
Shows an
animal (regenerating after a break far forward on the body) that lacks
blue pigment on the regenerated portion creating an unusual bi-color
effect. Whether it resulted from
a somatic mutation while regenerating, a physical/metabolic "error"
during regeneration or lack of an environmental precursor/precondition for producing
the pigment during regeneration is unknown.

not yet regenerating
shows an
animal that has lost the posterior portion of its body after the third
ceratal cluster but has yet to begin regenerating (supports survival
after such a severe loss)
