Identification:  The shell of this species has an aperture that expands basally and widely spaced punctate spiral striae. It is marked by interrupted peach-colored spiral lines. Natural history:  Scaphander takedai is known from only a few shells with the Bishop Museum specimens dredged from depths of 73 m (240 ft) to at least 128 m (420 ft). Distribution:  Oahu.
