Tenellia sp. #15
Maximum size: 9 mm.
Identification:
This
species has a translucent body densely flecked with turquoise/violet
on the notum and cerata. The tips of the
cerata
are white and there are a few isolated sub-apical white spots. The
cephalic tentacles and rhinophores are translucent with white patches..
Natural history:
Tenellia sp. #15 in known from two animals. The first was found in a
tide pool. The second was found on algal turf at about 10 m (33 ft). It was at a moderately exposed to exposed site.
Distribution:
Oahu.
Taxonomic notes:
It was first recorded in Hawaii from Diamondhead Beach Park,
Oahu by Michael Gosliner in 1980 and was formerly placed in the genus Cuthona. There's some chance that the two animals are different species.
