Tenellia sp. #28

Maximum size: 15-20 mm.
Identification:
The
body of this aeolid is translucent-violet. The rhinophores have orange
tips and the cephalic tentacles have a medial purple band. The cerata
have brown cores, subapical orange bands and supramedial purple bands. The notum is
covered with diffuse white pigment.
Natural history:
Tenellia sp. #28
is known from a single animal found crawling, by day, on a vertical rock
wall at about 9 m (30 ft). The site was shaded and moderately exposed to exposed.
Distribution: Oahu.
Taxonomic notes:
It
was first recorded in Hawaii from Pupukea, Oahu by Damaris
Torres-Pulliza and Roney Rodrigues on July 17, 2022. It may be related
to Tenellia sibogae.
