Carminodoris sp. #2
|Maximum size: 20 mm (Gosliner,
et. al., 2008).
This species is similar to Carminodoris bifurcata with
bi-colored branchia and flame-like white markings on its rhinophores.
However, it differs from that species in having proportionately smaller
tubercles. The middle of the notum is redish and there are 3-4 slightly enlarged tubercles with white tips on each side.
#2 is known from only five or six animals.
Maui, Oahu, Kauai, French Frigate Shoals and Maro Reef.
It was first recorded in Hawaii off Makena, Maui by PF on Aug. 25, 1993.
