Unidentified Discodorid #4

Unidentified Discodorid #4
Maximum size:  3 mm.

Identification:  This is a flattened, finely papillate, cream species. The notum is blotched with brown and there is a network of white lines that connect slightly larger, white-ringed papillae.

Natural history:  Unidentified discodorid #4 is known from a single very small animal found in a Halimeda kaneloana bed at 8-12 m (26-39 ft).

Distribution:  Maui.

Taxonomic notes:  This animal may turn out to be a juvenile of another species (perhaps, Thordisa sp. #2?). But, we can't "connect" it to any of the listed species with certainty at this time. It was first recorded in Hawaii from Airport Beach, Maui by CP on Sept. 12, 1994.
