Philine
(?) sp. #2

Philine(?) sp. #2: shell
Maximum size:  0.9 mm shell length.

Identification:  The shell of this species has fine spiral striae and two spiral brown bands.

Natural history:  Philine(?) sp. #2 is known from only one shell found in beach drift.

Distribution:  Maui.

Taxonomic notes:  There is some question about whether this shell is from a Philine or a Noalda related to Noalda exigua. The latter has similar brown bands on its shell. However, it's shell is smooth rather than striate. It was first recorded in Hawaii from Hana Bay, Maui by CP in fall, 1988.
