Dendrodoris sp. #10
Maximum size: 152-178 mm.
Identification:
This
is
a large, tuberculate species. The tubercles are
roughly conical and irregularly arranged. The
background
color is mustard-yellow dorsally and cream grading to translucent-pink
marginally. The tubercles are cream and there are many diffuse, dark
brown blotches on the notum. The rhinophores are medium-brown and the
branchia are brown with a white rachis.
Natural history:
Dendrodoris sp.
#10 is known from one animal found on sand, surrounded by reef, at a
depth of 12 m (41 ft). It was crawling in the open, at night.
Distribution:
Big Island.
Taxonomic notes: This species
was first found in Hawaii at Puako, Big Island by Meidee Goh on Nov. 4, 2023. Its color scheme is reminiscent of Dendrodoris atromaculata but the details of its pattern and tubercle form are different.
