Maximum size: 2 mm (excluding
"tail").
Identification:
This
is
a
distinctive species with elaborate "crests" on the
posterior margin of its head shield and
small tubercles decorating its parapodia.
Natural history:
Unidentified
haminoeid #4 is known from only two animals found at exposed to
moderately exposed, rocky sites within a range of 3-13 m (10-44 ft).
Distribution:
Maui and Kauai: also known from Guam and Papua New Guinea.
Taxonomic notes: It
is
similar to haminoeid #3 in Gosliner, et. al., 2008. It
was first recorded in Hawaii at Honokohau, Maui by CP on Aug. 6, 2002.
