Melampus parvulus Pfeiffer, 1846
Maximum size: 10 mm (Kay,
1979).
Identification:
This species has a slender, conical, dark brown shell. There are 4-5
folds inside the outer lip and two on the columella. (Kay, 1979)
It lacks the white aperture of Melampus
castaneus.
Natural history:
Kay (1979) states that Melampus
parvulus is common in the supraspray zone but we've only seen it
a few times on Maui.
Distribution:
Maui and Oahu: widely distributed in the western and central Pacific.
