Maximum size: 2 mm.
Identification:
The
body of this aeolid is translucent-cream. The rhinophores have a
medial, burnt-orange band and there is a burnt-orange patch bellow the
eye spot. The cephalic tentacles are unmarked. The cerata are brown
basally, grading to dull turquoise medially, with white tips. They are
marked with highly irregular, cloudy, blue-white streaks and have small blue-white spots near their apexes. The top of
the head is bright pink and a pink patch is present on the front of the
head below the rhinophore base. That patch may or may not connect with
the patch on top of the head.
Natural history:
Tenellia sp. #27
is known from a single animal found in a cave at 6-8 m (20-25 ft).
Distribution: Big Island.
Taxonomic notes:
It
was first recorded in Hawaii from south of Kona, Big Island by Marketa Murray on Aug. 15, 2020.
