Unidentified Tritoniid #2
Maximum size: 21 mm.
Identification:
This is a translucent-cream animal densely spotted with violet-brown.
There are scattered white spots on the notum and the cerata are frosted
with white. It differs from the similar appearing Marionia
hawaiiensis in having longer cerata, less ruffled rhinophore
sheaths and short processes on its oral veil.
Natural history:
Unidentified
tritoniid #2 is a rare species known from a single animal found at a
moderately exposed rocky site.
Distribution:
Maui.
Taxonomic notes: It was first recorded in Hawaii from Maliko Bay, Maui by PF on June 7, 1991.
