Turbonilla thaanumi Pilsbry &
Vanatta, 1908
Maximum size: 3.8 mm shell
length.
Identification:
The shell of this species is similar to that of Turbonilla kahoolawensis but with fewer
axial ribs.
Natural history:
The illustrated shell is the only one we've seen on Maui. Kay (1979)
states that live animals have been found in the byssus of Isognomon perna.
Distribution:
Maui and Oahu.
Taxonomic notes:
The illustrated shell seems to be a good match for the photo is Kay but
is somewhat larger than her description suggests for the species.
